Boulevard Haussmann Prices & Fees: Free Rooftops & Real Costs

Prices verified October 2026. The boulevard and its two famous department-store rooftops are free; transport, parking and shopping figures are official Île-de-France Mobilités and operator rates unless labelled "observed".

The single most useful thing to know about Boulevard Haussmann is that the best of it costs nothing. The street itself is public, and the two viewpoints that draw most visitors — the Galeries Lafayette rooftop and the Printemps seventh-floor terrace — are free to reach. Everything else here is a shopping budget you set yourself. This page separates the genuinely free from the genuinely payable, so you can plan a visit around the free views and spend only where you choose.

✅ The headline

Walking the boulevard: FREE (a public street through the 8th and 9th arrondissements).
Galeries Lafayette dome and rooftop "La Terrasse": FREE, no ticket or booking.
Printemps "Terrasse du 7e Ciel": FREE to visit during store hours.

Is there an entry fee?

No. A boulevard is a street, and no one charges to walk one. The shops, cafés and department stores along Boulevard Haussmann are free to enter; you pay only for what you buy. The one worthwhile thing to plan around is opening time — the stores keep long hours but are not open around the clock. Our opening hours and contact guide lists the current schedule.

The free rooftops

Galeries Lafayette — La Terrasse

The Art Nouveau dome and the eighth-floor rooftop terrace at Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann are open to all visitors, free of charge, with no ticket and no reservation required. You simply take the lift or stairs up during store hours — Monday to Saturday 10:00–20:30, Sunday 11:00–20:00. The terrace may close in rain or high wind, so check the sky before you climb. Address: 40 Boulevard Haussmann, 75009; nearest stations Chaussée d'Antin–La Fayette (lines 7 and 9) or Opéra (3, 7, 8).

Printemps — Terrasse du 7e Ciel

The Printemps Haussmann building at 64 Boulevard Haussmann has its own free public terrace, the Terrasse du 7e Ciel, on the seventh floor of the Femme building. It keeps the store's hours (Monday to Saturday 10:00–20:00, Sunday 11:00–20:00) and does not require booking. Access being free is well corroborated by travel guides, though the official Printemps page is the place to confirm before a special trip.

💡 Best free view in the 9th

Both terraces give you rooftops, the Opéra Garnier and the Eiffel Tower on the skyline. Arrive before the stores empty in the late afternoon, and on a clear day you can photograph the whole west of Paris without paying a cent.

Transport: official Paris fares 2026

This is the cost most visitors actually incur. Paris fares are flat across the region for a single trip, and the 2026 prices were set on 1 January by Île-de-France Mobilités.

Ticket (2026) Full fare Reduced fare
Metro – Train – RER single (all zones, airports excluded) €2.55 €1.30
Bus – Tram single €2.05 €1.05
Navigo Easy card (one-off, rechargeable) €2.00 —
Paris Région ↔ Airports single (CDG / Orly) €14.00 €7.00

Source: Île-de-France Mobilités 2026 fares (iledefrance-mobilites.fr), verified October 2026. If you find an older guide quoting a lower metro fare, it predates the 2026 pricing and should not be trusted.

Which station to use, and how each one connects to the two department stores, is set out on our metro stations page and our how to get here guide.

🚇 How to buy a ticket

Paper single tickets are gone. Load a Navigo Easy card (€2 one-off) or buy directly in the Bonjour RATP / Île-de-France Mobilités app, then tap in and out. Buying at a machine keeps you moving — avoid the Sunday-morning queue at staffed windows.

Parking

Parking under the boulevard is run by Indigo. The official operator confirms a car park at 48 Boulevard Haussmann, beneath the L'Homme building, open 24 hours a day, with loyalty-card discounts; the published two-wheeler rate is €0.30 per 15 minutes. The official page does not publish car rates, so the figures that circulate for cars — around €20–40 for three to four hours, and EV charging at about €0.29/kWh — are observed figures from our own guide, not a published tariff. Note the 1.90 m height limit on the car parks.

Full detail, including the Printemps car park at 98 Rue de Provence and pre-booking through Indigo Neo for a discount, is on our parking and transportation guide.

What you might actually spend

Once the free views and the fixed transport costs are out of the way, everything else is discretionary. As a sense of scale — again, these are observed ranges from our own guide, not official prices — a Gourmet-building sit-down meal runs about €25–40 per person, a takeaway pastry and coffee about €8–12, a designer lipstick €40–50 and a 100 ml designer perfume €120–150. Boutique clothing sits higher. Our shopping budget guide breaks the figures down further.

VAT refund for non-EU visitors

If you are visiting from outside the EU, you can reclaim VAT on goods — typically around 12% — once your purchases at a single store on a single day reach €100.01. Both Galeries Lafayette and Printemps run refund desks. The threshold and the standard scheme are French-wide rules, but confirm the current detail at the store before you buy.

Currency

Prices are in euros (€). As a rough guide, €1 ≈ US$1.12 (approximate; recompute on the day you travel).

How to pay: on the door, online, or pre-booked

The boulevard, the store entrances and both rooftops need nothing booked — you walk in. Metro tickets are bought at a machine or in the app. Parking is worth pre-booking through Indigo Neo if you want the discount. Store experiences such as guided heritage tours or wine tastings are booked on the official Galeries Lafayette site, and cost extra; the terraces themselves remain free.

Prices verified October 2026. Metro fares are official Île-de-France Mobilités figures and the Galeries Lafayette terrace and parking are official operator details. Car-park rates, EV charging, dining and shopping ranges are observed and indicative. A paid pop-up bar has sometimes operated on a rooftop in season — that is optional and does not affect free access.

FOOD AND SHOPPING

While often visited for the view the visitor should not forget that The Boulevard encompasses a wide range of shopping and dining options, from the casual to the sophisticated. Within the Haussmann area are examples of many of Paris's most authentic and distinctive styles, as well as international choices to fit all palates and budgets.
